- Our client, based at their Watford HQ, are a Business Services firm, specialising in the field of Professional Employment and Payroll Solutions. They are leading accountants for contractors, providing Limited Company accountancy and Umbrella Services, providing payroll for over 3000 contractors a week and have formed successful working relationships with many major recruitment firms across our core sectors, Professional Services, Logistics and Transport and Education.

Millions of people in Britain now work outside of the PAYE arena and therefore employers and individuals look to firms like our client for professional advice on their accountancy service needs and requirements. By offering a broad range of services for both umbrella and limited company contractors, our client provides employers savings on back office costs, resourcing and National Insurance contributions. In addition, they reduce the risk of contractors falling foul of HMRC and potentially improves their net pay.
Sector over-view:
This is a high growth market sector driven by changes in employment patterns and HMRC legislation, as well as employer's desire to reduce costs of employing contractors.
There is no clear market leader in the sector and none of the leading companies have a substantial market share. This is a market sector ripe for consolidation and primed to create considerable shareholder value for those firms with the vision, calibre of management team and financial backing.
The Job:
For the past 25 years our client's team of umbrella experts have provided over 50,000 contractors with compliant support and guidance, excellent customer service and straightforward, easy-to-understand advice. They offer best advice service. This is a key role within their accounting team. You will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, the majority will be PSCs.
*Responding to inbound client queries via telephone/email.
*Assisting team members where required.
*Will be responsible for preparing VAT returns and management accounts for a select group of limited company clients.
*Ensuring all VAT returns and management accounts are prepared within deadlines.
*Updating IRIS practice management to ensure that all jobs are allocated to team members.
*Filing on IRIS opendocs.
*Contacting clients over the phone to ensure they meet their required deadlines.
*Providing proactive outbound advise to clients both new and existing, including tax planning.
*Providing technical support to the organisations limited company/umbrella/sales teams.
*Monitoring clients' deadlines for VAT/SATR/Year end accounts through internal reporting tools.
*Assistance with clients' company payroll.
*Advising clients through company closedown/Capital Distribution/MVL processing.
*Assisting with IR35 contract reviews, if required.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required:
*Experience of working in a practice dealing with small businesses or at least AAT Foundation qualified.
*Preferable working knowledge of the contracting industry (specifically with regard to IR35 regulations and Managed Service Company legislation)
*Excellent customer service and communication skills.
*Experience in preparing and reviewing accounts limited companies.
*Experience in calculating tax liabilities & advising clients (Self-Assessment / Corporation tax/VAT).
*Confident with client interaction, in person, written and via telephone.
*Experience in running a limited company payroll would be beneficial.
*Good computer skills and basic understanding of accounting practice software. Experience with IRIS and IRIS opendocs preferable but not essential as full training will be provided.
*Ability to work as part of a team yet self-motivated and target driven.
*Excellent multi-tasking ability.
Hours and Environment:
This is a full time role, with the shift pattern being 3 days of 9am-5.30pm, 1 day 8am - 4.30pm and one day 11:30am - 8pm.
