The Role
Working as part of a growing company and tax team, as a trainee you will take immediate responsibility for assisting with all day to day tax work. This will include dealing with but not limited to Corporation Tax, Self-Assessment, VAT and payroll issues. This will include providing compliance and advice services to a wide range of businesses and individuals. You will be required to meet with clients alongside other members of the team and maintain the high quality service that our client provides to their clients.
In addition to this, as a member of the tax team you will also be required to complete company secretarial tasks for the firm's clients, whilst also be responsible for assisting with the day to day company secretarial work and formations work required. This will involve providing a service and advice to a number of businesses and individuals.
As well as training on the job, full study support will be provided towards obtaining the ATT qualification, under training contract provisions. It is expected that upon completion of the ATT, the successful candidate will also work towards completion of the CTA qualification.
The role offers the chance to obtain wide experience in a mixed tax environment and to also gain a greater knowledge of legal administration of a UK business.
Requirements
Academic:
*A 2.2 or above degree in any discipline
*Three A Levels, with grade BBB or higher (or equivalent), excluding General Studies
*Grade B or better in GCSE Mathematics and English Language (or equivalent)
Personal
A strong interest and commitment to a career in taxation is key. The successful candidate will be expected to communicate with clients directly, so excellent spoken and written English skills are a requirement. A professional, enthusiastic and responsible approach are required, as well as being able to demonstrate the ability to work independently. The role includes the requirement to carry out research and review complex legislation at times, therefore an eye for detail is also important.
The Company
Our client is a firm of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers and Registered Auditors. They provide a wide range of services to businesses and individuals, mainly either in the London area or international businesses operating in the UK. The business has been trading for 15 years and has approximately 18 staff. The successful candidate will be working as part of a tax team of 5 people. The firm is well established and has seen significant year on year growth.
