Company Description
Our client is a UK-based leisure and holiday specialist based in the trendy Farringdon area of London. Their business is focused on providing bespoke packages in the golf, spa and horse racing markets through their portfolio of sites. The majority of their business is currently generated through their golf and spa markets, both of which have experienced an impressive rate of growth over recent years. Purpose of role:
To assist the Human Resources Manager in providing an efficient, people-orientated and legally compliant HR and Payroll function to ensure the highest quality of service to the companies of The Palatinate Group.
Duties of post holder:
HR Responsibilities:
▪Coordination of the annual leave system including monitoring requests against staff rotas, adding new employees to the system, updating new leave allowances and ensuring the system is up to date with leavers and current employees.
▪Responsibility for absence notifications to managers and adding absences to the annual leave system and payroll.
▪Setting up new starter files and ensuring all required paperwork is returned and kept on files.
▪Leaver's administration including issuing of resignation acceptance letters, the archiving leavers personnel files and the collection of staff ID passes.
▪Issuing of P45's to leavers by email on a monthly basis.
▪Compiling new starter packs and ensuring induction processes are set up for employees first day including that IT equipment is being prepared and desk space is organised.
▪Conduct induction process in the HR Managers absence.
▪Administration of employee awards including collecting votes, notifying winners and creating group announcement emails.
▪Collect and request employment references for all candidates following a formal job offer.
▪Assist with organising quarterly Directors new starter welcome drinks
▪Respond to reference requests from other organisations
▪To take minutes/notes of formal or informal HR meetings when required including disciplinary and grievance hearings.
▪Issue probation letters including successful completion of probation or probation extensions
▪Conduct DSE work station assessments for new starters.
▪Take staff photos and produce ID passes
▪Act as a point of contact for employee requests.
▪Other HR Administration task as required.
Payroll Responsibilities:
▪Process monthly payrolls for 6 entities (c.220 employees in total)
▪Ensure all HMRC reporting and payment obligations are met
▪Ensure all company pension scheme report and payment obligations are met
▪Produce P45, P60 and P11d forms
▪Answer employee queries re: salary deductions, tax code changes etc
▪Produce monthly payroll journal
▪Email employees to notify them of any deductions due to absence
▪Report staff numbers by department to the Finance Department on a monthly basis
▪Assist with preparation of annual payroll budgets
▪Completion of ONS questionnaires as and when required
Required attributes
Minimum of two years' experience in a human resources / payroll role
Minimum 1 years' experience processing payrolls on Sage Payroll for an small-medium sized business
Good understanding of UK employment law and Payroll best practice
Good Excel skills (ideally vlookups and pivot tables as a minimum)
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent people skills with demonstrable internal customer management experience
