The Head of Finance will lead the company's finance department, work with other department heads to devise strategy and key objectives and provide deep analysis into the company's performance against the strategy and key objectives.
In leading the Finance Department, you will manage and develop a small team to provide normal financial activities such as book-keeping, reconciliation, payroll, payment runs, client reporting and VAT returns.
You will provide a management information report on key financial metrics on a weekly & monthly basis and use this report to track how the company is developing against their business plan.
You will also provide deeper analysis of the company's financial position, the financial performance of all clients and the ROI of all costs to contribute to decision-making at the top level within the company.
The Head of Finance will also assist in managing investment rounds and preparing the company for an eventual exit.
Responsibilities
*Work with CEO and CoS to develop strategic plan.
*Provide leadership, direction, and management of the (potentially external) finance and accounting team
*Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and members of the senior management team (SMT)
*Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
*Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization's operations
*Advise on long-term business and financial planning
*Analyse and provide actionable insights on the company's incomes/clients in order to increase ROI and/or boost profitability
*Provide commercial insight and leadership across the business in order to exceed business plan targets
*Review all formal finance procedures
*Drive the company's financial planning
*Control and evaluate the organisation's fundraising plans and capital structure
*Prepare reliable current and forecasting reports
*Work with other department heads to monitor each department and make recommendations
*Analyses operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, downsizing, , elimination or other improvements
*Assist with high-level decisions about policy and strategy.
*Ensure legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitoring compliance with laws and regulations.
*Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company.
Skills and requirements
*In depth knowledge of accounting and finance
*Slow thinker and concise communicator
*Curious about data and numbers
*Ability to present complex data in a simplified manner for the SMT to make decisions
*Ability to push back and be firm when needed
*Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
*Ability to strategies and solve problems
*Strong leadership and organisational skills
*Experience with corporate governance.
*Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions.
*Ability to inspire confidence and create trust.
*Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.
