A rail electrical improver must have relevant industrial or rail site experience. A registered apprenticeship or equivalent training method in electrical installation work is mandatory. Additional requirements for this position include:

Level 2 NVQ Electrical Installation

City and Guilds Level 2 Electrical Installation (2368)

Valid ECS Health and Safety Card

Completion of further education courses as appropriate

Ability to install wiring systems, enclosures, and electrical equipment under the supervision of a skilled electrician
