Description
Assistant Project Manager

Location: Field-based / Nationwide travel, with a London base
Employment Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday-Friday, with flexibility required for travel and site requirements
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP

The Role

We are looking for an ambitious and proactive Assistant Project Manager to join our clients growing team and take on increasing responsibility across projects nationwide.

This is a hands-on, field-based role rather than a purely administrative position.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop the confidence and capability to manage day-to-day site activities independently, while working closely with the Project Manager and wider management team.

Nationwide travel is an essential part of the role, including regular travel outside London and overnight stays where required.
We are looking for someone who is energetic, self-sufficient and comfortable taking ownership.
You will need to be able to operate independently, communicate confidently with clients, subcontractors and site teams, identify issues early and escalate matters appropriately.

The role offers a clear progression route towards full Project Manager responsibility for the right individual.

Key Responsibilities
Full Site Lifecycle Ownership: Take a project from initial survey and mobilisation through
installation, snagging, and client handover, coordinating crews, subcontractors, and suppliers on site - not simply supporting someone else's site.

Independent Regional Site Management: Confidently run sites at a distance from the main
office, including regional locations outside London and the South East, with minimal day-today supervision, while keeping the relevant project management team properly informed and
escalating issues promptly rather than letting them build up unseen.

Fire-Door Surveys: Conduct detailed fire-door condition surveys in line with BS 8214 / EN 1634 standards, measuring openings and documenting defects or non-compliance's to a standard
that can be used within client-facing reports.

Programme & Progress Reporting: Track your site(s) against programme, flag slippage,
resourcing gaps, or emerging risks early and directly to the Project Manager - problems should be identified and addressed at the earliest opportunity.

Procurement & Resource Coordination: Manage material take-offs, ordering, and delivery
tracking for your site(s), and coordinate operative and subcontractor availability to avoid
scheduling conflicts that could affect the programme.

Health & Safety Ownership: Run site inductions, point-of-work risk assessments, and toolbox
talks, and maintain RAMS/ITP records to an audit-ready standard, taking real ownership of the safety culture on your site.

Client & Subcontractor Liaison: Act as the day-to-day point of contact for clients and
subcontractors on assigned site(s), handling routine issues yourself and escalating matters that genuinely require additional input.

Documentation & Handover Packs: Maintain accurate installation logs, survey reports, and
handover packs, including drawings, certifications and photographic records, so every site
closes out properly and is ready for final sign-off.

Flexible Deployment: Be willing to travel to and support different sites as required, including regional locations and projects that require additional support. This may involve travelling at short notice and staying away overnight where the site location makes daily commuting impractical.

AI & Digital Adaptability: Use project-management, scheduling, reporting and digital tools,
including AI-assisted planning and administrative tools, to keep project information accurate, organised and up to date.

Problem Solving & Escalation: Take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues
on site, using your own judgement where appropriate while knowing when an issue needs to
be escalated.

Professional Representation: Represent the business professionally when dealing with
clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other stakeholders, demonstrating confidence, reliability and good judgement when working independently.

Qualifications & Experience
2-4 year's experience in construction, project management or a related environment.
CSCS card required.
